Will we focus more on teaching skills or business skills?

• Teaching skills and content creation are the primary focus, but we will cover aspects of business

What if I only want to teach online (or in person) — will this still be useful?

• Yes, we will learn about both options but the content can be applied to both

How much time should I expect to dedicate each week?

• 2-4 hours or more... this depends on whether you are doing the minimal work of watching videos or investing time in course creation while we work

Are the sessions live, recorded or both?

• Both. There are recorded lessons for each module that will be important to watch before each weekly live lesson. The live lessons will be recorded and shared in the online course for those who miss them.

Will there be homework or assignments?

• Yes. Do you want to create a course? That is what each assignment will help you achieve - a full course planned out (or fully created) by the end of this mentorship.

When will live lessons be held?

• This has not been decided yet, although it will be the same day and time each week. Once we have an idea of what works best for the group between timezones and schedules, I will share this answer.

Do I need prior teaching experience to join?

• No, you don't - but you should be experienced in your field.

Is this only for licensed beauty and wellness professionals?

• No - this course is open to anyone who wants to train others in their field. I see it being helpful for many different professionals, including musicians, sound healers, PTs, etc. along with estheticians, massage therapists, lash artists and hairstylists. It is NOT a licensing course - it is meant for those creating content and selling that content in the form of online courses or in-person trainings. However, if you are training your employees or teaching in a school, this would also be a great addition to whatever training you were (or were not, in some cases) provided.

I’ve been teaching for years already — is this still relevant for me?

• Yes! If you feel like you want more direction or support, or are branching out into new offerings this could be beneficial.

What if I feel nervous about teaching in front of others?

• This is a big block for people, but you have to move through it at some point! My goal is to create a safe space for you to be able to teach in front of the group and get feedback before teaching to paying customers.

Is the program beginner-friendly?

• Yes, as long as you are not a beginner with computers. You need to be able to function in an online class, find links to join lives, download materials, turn in assignments, record yourself, etc.

What does “trauma-informed teaching” actually mean in this program?

• It means understanding how the nervous system works from the polyvagal perspective and using that information to structure your classes, content and even checkout experience for the safest possible environment. This is both for students and for you, as a teacher - you need to be able to understand how the actions of others impact you and how to respond in a compassionate manner, as well as manage your own triggers so that it doesn't impact the student's ability to learn. Trauma also impacts your ability to receive money for your work and it can prevent you from being successful.

How does this mentorship support highly sensitive or neurodivergent practitioners?

• I have great news, this mentorship is MADE FOR YOU... from one highly sensitive person to another, I promise I have your unique needs in mind. We will cover ways to protect your energy and use your neurodivergence to your benefit throughout the training! I find we make the best teachers once we can hone in on our superpowers and understand how we work best.

Will we practice regulating our own nervous systems as educators?

• Yes, we will be doing some investigation of our own nervous systems and incorporate practices weekly to see what works for us and what doesn't.

Will this program help me create CE courses?

• Yes, and we will discuss applying for CE accreditation with a few different associations/state boards but may not cover all options. 

Will I learn how to price and market my trainings?

• Yes, we will be working on pricing and marketing options. Please keep in mind that my approach to marketing is NOT to try to "go viral" and get a ton of people enrolled at once - it is to focus on your ideal student and build intentionally. I will not be promising anyone overnight success with XYZ protocols - you just have to do the work.

Does the program include tech support (for platforms, AI tools, etc.)?

• I can't be your tech support but I will show you how to use multiple different platforms such as Kajabi, Thinkific, YouTube, InShot, Zoom, Canva, ChatGPT, Gemini, GoogleDrive, Zapier, OtterAI, etc. to streamline your processes.

Will you help me with contracts, liability or business policies for trainings?

• I am not a lawyer and cannot help or advise you with the details, but we will discuss different types of contracts, insurance and policies in a general manner.

How interactive is the group coaching aspect?

• We will be interacting during our live sessions through conversation, Q&A and group activities. You will be expected to teach in front of our group and receive feedback, (whether that is done live or recorded to be watched and commented on depends on our group size). We will also have a private community with challenges and opportunities to connect as much or as little as you want.

Will I get direct feedback from you?

• Yes, on assignments and in live sessions. You will also get direct feedback on your presentations and the opportunity to book a 1-1 coaching session so we can dive into your unique plan and needs.

Will I be practicing teaching with peers?

• Yes, definitely. I know it can be scary but this was a very important part of my training that helped me to be a much better educator.

What if I miss a live session?

• You can watch the recording in the online course. 

Is there a community or group chat between sessions?

• Yes. The community is easily accessed through your Kajabi app or online portal. It will consist only of students in your cohort.

What is the investment and are there payment plans?

• The investment is discounted to $1000 for the beta testing cohort, with the opportunity to receive $200 back at the end of your training by completing all assignments and contributing a recorded lesson to The Yin Portal's free content library. There will be payment plans. 

Will I have lifetime access to materials?

• Yes.

How soon can I expect to start offering my own courses after completing this?

• If you complete all your assignments and build your course as you go, you could be ready immediately.

What if I don’t know exactly what I want to teach yet?

• This is a perfect time to find out!

How is this different from other “teach the teacher” programs?

• Hopefully it's better :) I can't speak to what is out now because I did my teacher training 17 years ago, BUT I can tell you that I had a much more comprehensive training than most (800 hours with weekly peer teaching/feedback, plus ongoing educator certifications my first few years of teaching) and it showed in my years as a cosmetology and esthetics teacher in each school I taught at. I even helped schools create teacher certification programs and onboard future instructors. I am bringing some of those elements into this mentorship. I also take a ton of online classes and in person classes and have the experience most of you have, which is feeling let down by the experience. Am I perfect? Do I know everything? No, but I know what it takes to make a really good class. And this is probably a bit longer and intensive than most "teach the teacher" online classes you will find on the internet.
